Beirut letter

A letter from Beirut response writing

Hi Andrew. I agree with your letter, Lebanon is a beautiful country and Beirut is a beautiful capital. I love that your people don't let the bad things get to them, and I hate that your people have to go through something so economically devastating like this again. I know your people are restless and shell shocked by something like that explosion. I know there have been relentless protesters asking for justice over this blast, and I do hope they get it. I’ve seen a lot of videos of the deadly blast; whenever you type up Beirut on the internet you don't see the beautiful photos of the place anymore. All you see are the photos, videos and articles of the blast and all the destruction, I do hope that we get to see the photos of the place blossoming with health and wealth soon enough. There have been protests, unrest and lots of violent crime before this blast, and I hate that there are articles about how unsafe it is to visit Beirut. I do know you have an amazing, and beautiful history before all this; other than the conquering of your country over the centuries. I do know your people will get through this soon enough, like trees and plants that come back stronger after a forest fire.

In class we have been following the devastating Beirut blast. We read a letter from a Lebanese man stating how beautiful their country really is, other than all the the destruction. And this is my letter to him in response.
